What is The Phantom Press?
What is The Phantom Press?
The Phantom Press was imagined after I realized that no one in my area was reporting on the things I care about: alternative culture, mutual aid, and sustainability. In a place where mainstream media overlooks the underground, this digital zine exists to amplify the voices of the unheard and the unseen.
This is a publication for the punks, goths, artists, and DIY makers in Southern Kentucky and beyondโfor the people who feel like phantoms in their own hometowns.
Why The Phantom Press?
Coming back to this rural area after living in cities like Chicago and Nashville, I immediately felt the disconnection. In urban spaces, alternative communities thrive because they are networked, visible, and accessible. But in rural Kentucky, we are isolated, often unaware of one anotherโs existence.
Growing up here, I struggled to find my people, and I see others going through the same thing. I refuse to let the alt and punk communities in Kentucky remain invisible. The Phantom Press is here to document, connect, and uplift our scene.
